Hometown Martial Arts: 


What is the difference between grappling and striking? Striking involves the physical action of hitting a target with a knee, fist or foot, leg.  While grappling uses body to body entanglements to control your opponent.


I don't want to compete, is that ok? 100%  Competition is 100% voluntary.  All students learn the same curriculum.


I'm not in shape, can I still participate in class? YES!  You get to set your own pace in our classes.  Our classes are all skill based, as you become more comfortable, you can push your pace.


What ages do you work with? Kids from 5yo teens, adults and seniors.


Can I do MMA class if I don't have any experience? No.  MMA is the most volatile of all sports so a student must show proficiency in the fundamentals of striking, and grappling.


What do I need for my first class? Water bottle, dress comfortable, and a CAN DO attitude.


Do you offer family discounts? Yes, when you come in for your trial class we would love to talk to you about our family packages.


Which classes are best for beginners? We have boxing, Muay Thai and grappling classes that are appropriate for beginners.  Please contact our front desk for information on our class schedule.


Do you have women that train? Absolutely!  We have a safe and welcoming space for women to train martial arts.  Women are present in most if not all of our coed classes.  We also have women’s only classes scheduled throughout the week.


What is Muay Thai? Muay Thai is the art of 8 limbs, punches, kicks, knees and elbows.


What is boxing?  Boxing is the sweet science.  The art of punching.


What is MMA? Mixed Martial Arts is a combination of boxing, kickboxing, grappling sports (jiujitsu, wrestling, judo) and can also include various forms of traditional martial arts as well.


What is Jiu Jitsu? Jiujitsu is a martial art focused on ground fighting and grapping.


My child is neurodivergent, can they take the kids Muay Thai class? Absolutely, they can try it out.  If it is too overstimulating we have packages where they can do a one on one class until they are ready to integrate into a group class setting.
